Tried staying to collect presents. Terrible lag. Got disconnected after 5 mins or so.
Put new hat on before disconnect. I could login, select char but could not connect to GW server (hat showed up on char at login). When i could start game, hat and everything else was back to state before finale event.

Yes, 3 AM Edt went with no problems, 12 pm Edt is the one that went awry for me

Yes

What did you lose?
The CC Shards I won during the Finale, the Presents that dropped for me. I was able to pick 6 of them up & shown in my inventory & 3 were left on the ground when I got the Err 7 & the Dwayna Hat which did show in my inventory

What territory and district were you in?
Kamadan 44 American
Were you present, or AFKing?
Present

Maybe 10 minutes

Un-playable tbh, just logged on twice today to get the hats then went back onto TF2.

Everyone in the district was having the same 23k~ ping.

i have 55k lag regulary in town.
its probably because all the minipets and the annoying ooze.
well if guild wars 2 isnt seperated by town,outpost,world and its all one area there might be less lag if anet does it right.

i used to complain about 200 ms lag....but this is the worst i think i've ever seen gw lag in my gw experience (since release).

i dont remember past wintersdays being like this... o well.

I've tried DIS 1,2,8,20,50,128 so far (LA & KAM). I've lagged in every DIS except 128. Basically unless you're playing by yourself or with under 20 people...expect a ping of +6000 a code 007 (or w/e) or server drop. Event = Fail (extension please -.-)

I've had this same issue, compounded with the fact that Charter Communications can't keep their services operational for more than a week in the St. Louis area.

I guess they bumped the servers or something before I went into the festival. Dist 75 LA US around 3:00 P.M. Highest average ping was 3.5k. After the avatars left and people put their mini-pets away, my ping went down to about 150.

I lagged enough to cause me to rubber-band a bit, but didn't err-007 or lose presents. I actually gained some extra present from other people 007ing. Kinda feel guilty about that. :P

No, I was trying to stay for the "present drop", but only managed to pick up 2 or 3 during the 30 second pings before disconnecting with ERR=007

I put it on, and though I didn't take a screenshot, my character was actually wearing it at the login screen this morning. Logged in to find said character wearing the Ice Crown that he got at the first event, and no Dwayna hat in my inventory. Also missing the few presents I did manage to grab during the lag madness.

here is my todays account of GW:
first finale: it was about 4 min after the hour I maptravelled to LA american dis I arrived in dis 116 (somewhere this thigh) since there were other people waiting i didn't assume that this district was formed after the finale had already started, so i waited for approximately 1 hour event never started.
2nd finale: decided to go to engl dis this time and went to engl 10 LA major lag etc got my hat, some cc shards and picked up gifts but lost them after I was "lagged out". I couldn't log in for a while. After a couple of minutes I was able to log in but found out that I lost my hat some ccs and some gifts.
3rd finale: went to LA ID forgot which number, but yay got my wreath hat, some cc shards and some gifts.
4th finale: first try around xx:00 in Intern dis LA I think 7 or 9 during the ring game I was booted out and couldn't log back on with my elementalist character. I decided to go for the xx:15 Kamadan event and logged on with my other elementalist character on same account. Since I had no cc chards on this character I had to play the present hunt

managed to get 2 cc shards and played a couple of rounds on the ring game won about 2-4 cc shards

I got my icy hat, some cc shards and picked up quite a few gifts around 8 or something, saw several gifts on ground assigned to me, those grentcies kept killing me over and over cause I couldn't walk around ;(
5th finale: I wanted the icy hat, so I logged on with my ele sorry I forgot which district (it was international i believe but dunno whther LA or Kamadan cause I was so tired I decided to AFK this time around. Only to find that I had an error7 ;(
6th finale:i just woke up 26 minutes after event started so I was too late, still no icy hat for me ;(

I plan to be during the 7th finale because I so want the icy hat. I kinda like it, I want to see how it fits with the icy gloves. So I still have a couple of hours b4 event starts. I think I am gonna farm some sunspear points.

I have attended a couple of Guildwars event and loved them, mainly because of the free stuff etc. I don't remember it to be this bad, but I guess this time around there are some issues with the server(s). Its really okay I mean its just a game, and there are still 3 finales left. And if sleep doesn't catch me up I'll still be able to get the icy hat. But I wonder how many others were affected. Those who could only log on the first few finales.

I didn't realise it was this hard work

to get 2 hats.

GW is unplayable during this event. It's been nearly 24 hours and i still can't login reliably.

Masses of 58's and 007's...i don't give a crap about the event, i just want to play the game while i've got a few days off work! If i do manage to login to an outpost or town, i can't even zone without GW timing out. It doesn't matter if i'm in Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall or EoTN...same shit, different bucket.

GG on the capacity planning Anet - i guess it's a sign of the times that they're investing more into GW2 than keeping the GW playerbase interested enough to stick around.

As of 4:40 PM Pacific time, here is an update on the issues with the Wintersday Event:

Lag: Players are experiencing lag in the event. There were/are two things going on:

* We had a game server issue. The server team dealt with that before the third event, and from some reports that did help with some of the issues.

* We also learned that one of our providers -- a key provider that is involved in connections to the LA Data Center (through which all games are relayed) -- developed issues today. According to the numerous emails on this subject, as of Noon Pacific today, that provider has been notified, and the issue has been escalated as far up the chain as it can be. I have not received an "All clear" email, so believe these issues continue, and they are truly outside our control.

Talking to players, and thinking about this myself, there are theories that the lag issue might be be related to a few things: Substantially more AFKers than in the past; miniatures being out in town; some sort of glitch with the attack of the Grentchies (as the problem seems to worsen when they're around and lag is noticeably worse in Grench districts). I don't know if any of those is even remotely possible, but I have inquired.

Disconnects: Some players are getting Err 7s. If I recall my Err List properly, that number seems to point to the issue with the provider, which we hope will be resolved ASAP.

Ladder Freeze: The ladder was frozen in the last day or so. I believe it may have stopped updating as of Midnight GMT this morning. This was an inadvertent freeze -- let's say due to unseasonably cold weather?

-- and the ladder will be restarted. It is highly doubtful that it will reset, that is, wiped and restarted. I cannot say if we will go back to gather the data from the games played during the freeze, or if we'll just pick up and move on when we restart the ladder. [[Andrew Patrick]] is working on this, and yes, we do see advantages and disadvantages to either way of restarting. What we would suggest is that no one mess around in rated games -- like play silly builds or take a fall -- because those games ''may'' be logged retroactively. I don't want to start a panic -- and again, I cannot say this will or will not happen -- but please keep it in mind as you choose to play rated matches.

Lost Items: A few players are reporting that they have lost Wintersday-related items. A hat here, a present there, sometimes both. I have relayed these issues to the team, and the Support Team has received tickets and is also letting folks know what's going on. I know we are unable to replace lost items; we mean we are literally ''unable'' to do that. But we are looking into this situation to assess what's going on and to, of course, amend the problem.

We are very sorry for these issues, and lots of people are working hard to resolve them.

I've attended several events including last years winters day and have never experienced the kind of lag I have during this one. I haven't played GW in over a month due to my annoyance at the nerfs going on, but figured it was a event and I "thought" I wanted the hats.

The Hats suck the lag blows, and I call bs.

Anet / GW developers FAIL

I'm done..nothing left for me in this game time to move on, and no I wont buy the new game.
